The future is looking bright and profitable for Alph Electronics.

While the growing, Niagara-based company continues to hone in on North America’s LED lighting and electronic sign market, its partnership with Ed Baldassi, President and Owner of Offsite Industries Ltd., has provided the business with the space it requires to manufacture its cutting-edge line of LED products.

By January 2012, Alph Electronics will be manufacturing its signs at Offsite Industries’ 38,000 square-foot facility, a move that will help it become Canada’s only provider of full-colour (RGB), high-tech LED electronic signs.

Headquartered in St. Catharines, Alph Electronics employs a team of electrical engineers and LED experts who have developed a line of superior, quality finished LED lighting products and fixtures.  LED electronic signs can be used in a variety of applications, including retail stores, businesses and schools.

The signs can be designed for indoor or outdoor use and give customers the ability to change content themselves by using proprietary software developed by Alph Electronics.

The company can custom design any of their products to meet or exceed customer specifications.  “Things are changing so rapidly, you need a contingent of talented people to be able to change and adapt fast,” said Baldassi, adding the company intends to expand significantly within the next year. The industry is fast-paced and many people are needed to continually introduce and incorporate new ideas. “If you don’t stay on top of the technology, someone else will have it. We’re all driven by the expectations we have of where we’ll be in a year from now,” added Baldassi.

Though LED lighting technology is not new, Alph Electronics seeks ways to use it in innovative applications, such as in billboards to replace traditional fixtures. The company collaborates with other local and international high-tech companies to combine technologies and provide customers with cutting-edge solutions.   “We’re utilizing technology from around the world and applying it to the North American market,” said company President Richard Chia. “We decided to operate in Niagara due in part to the region’s green energy initiatives and the welcoming support we’ve received from local organizations such as the City of St. Catharines Economic Development Office, Niagara Economic Development Corporation, members of the Niagara Industrial Association, and Niagara College were also a major factor in our decision to continue developing the company locally,” added Chia.

“Our competitive advantage lies in our continual innovation of our products and processes, and the fact that we develop our products from the concept stage,” he said. “Our capacity to custom design and retro-fit is also a very unique, value-added feature of our company. We have complete control of the quality of our product design and manufacturing, and many prospective buyers and customers have come to us first because of our reputation for high-quality, Canadian-made LED solutions.”

These factors will help the company expand into new markets as it grows. “We’re always looking for bigger partnerships, and more demand (for our products),” said Product Designer Sam Chia.
